At times, families may disagree as to how best care for a loved one's health and/or finances. When families are unable to resolve their disagreements, the matter often leads to litigation which is costly and almost always results in family members never speaking to each other again. My legal practice is dedicated to assisting families resolve disputes concerning elder law matters in a private, dignified, and client centered manner through the use of the collaborative process. Collaborative law is an alternative to litigation which has been used primarily to help resolve divorce and family law matters. However, the use of the collaborative process is now extending to other legal areas such as elder law and business law. I am one of the first collaborative attorneys in the Rochester area who has committed to making the collaborative process available to clients hoping to resolve elder law issues through a means other than seeking the court's involvement.
